The “leaf pole cover” was designed to protect essential equipment like lights and speakers from direct weather impacts, such as sun and rain. While this type of equipment is generally weatherproof, in the fast-paced setup of a festival, a partially plugged connector could become vulnerable to rain. These covers provide an extra layer of protection.
Beyond functionality, the leaf-shaped covers are designed to enhance the overall festival atmosphere, reflecting Tomorrowland’s unique aesthetic. But it’s not just about looks—usability for festival employees was a priority. The covers use quick-release fasteners instead of bolts, making installation from a cherry picker much easier and avoiding the risk of dropped parts. Additionally, the covers are foldable and compact for efficient storage.
We also designed a family of poles to support strings of lights and flags, with the key challenge being the industrialization of an existing design. Our engineers worked to translate the aesthetic vision into something that could be efficiently manufactured at scale. The result is a durable and easy-to-set-up solution, engineered to withstand wind and even the occasional climbing festivalgoer. Additionally, the poles are built with the future in mind, capable of supporting heavier equipment as festival needs evolve.
