A few years ago, cyclist legend Johan Museeuw, went in search of a way to process flax fibre bicycle frames. The car industry and the aviation sector, already for a long time, have made use of the natural fibre which can boast properties such as robustness, flexibility and lightweight in its repertoire. Intensive research, in collaboration with partners IPA Composites Belgium and BILLATO Linea Telai, has lead to an innovative and promising product: the hybrid flax fibre carbon frame. A patented, high technology process brings the fibres together by means of high temperatures and pressure, because of which a material is created that has a particularly high shock-absorbing quality.

The hybrid flax fibre carbon bicycle is available in 3 models: MF-1, MF-3 and the MF-5. Achilles has developed the product graphics and the complete company logo of Museeuwbikes, from visiting cards to an extensive catalogue and website. In this each of the three models has received its personal look and identity, where the graphic lines that can be found in a carbon pattern were the starting point. In addition to that Achilles has also created a range of 6 colours that each refers to one of Museeuw's most memorable victories.

Achilles efforts to bring Museeuwbikes with a strong brand identity onto the market has not gone unrewarded. At the beginning of 2008 the total concept scooped an iF Product Design Award, a prestigious and very desirable design prize which is presented annually to the most innovative and excellent designs within the international design world.
