Already in the early twenties a group of Japanese doctors launched a clinical thermometer for home use in answer to the great lack of medical material in Japan. Later those doctors established the company Terumo Company, which started more and more to extend and refine its activities and products. In the seventies a European branch found its home base in the Belgian Haasrode, where, on a daily basis, among other things, 1.5 million hypodermic syringes, 4.5 million needles and 1 million blood tubes roll off the conveyor.
TerumoEurope produces and exports a wide range of products which can be used in angiography and cardiology, in cardiovascular systems, transfusions, clinical test systems and patient monitoring.

The T-ACE II is an Automatic blood component extractor. Achilles Associates designed the layout, the casing and the user interface of the appliance. In this the flexible usability in different clinical environments was taken into account, so that the appliance is compatible with, for example, all generally used blood bags, filters and tubes.
For the interface a clear coloured display was chosen on which all steps of the separation process can be easily followed. The casing was provided with rounded corners, so that the use of the T-ACE II can take place not only easily, but also absolutely safely for medical staff.
