HEAT STROKE PREVENTION

Every summer, an average of 20 children in Europe die from a heat stroke inside a car. You never expect something like this will happen to you, until it's too late.
LDV United created a crowd-sourced campaign for automaker Opel called ‘Smart Options’. They asked people to think up their own car feature and the winner would have it built into their own Opel. LDV United brought us along for the ride in order to take the winning feature from a rough idea to a functional reality.

The result of a co-creation project

The brightest car options aren’t always conceived the scientists in high-tech labs. Sometimes the best ones are inveted by the people who drive the car. That was the starting point of our campaign. Via social media we asked drivers to invent their ideal car option and submit it on the Opel platform. And that’s just what they did. Nearly 1400 ideas were sent in. 70 stunning ideas were sketched out by a product designer and send back, so people could be proud and share the idea with their friends. One idea stood out, it had the potential to become a game changer.

From warehouse man to PR-man

But, it doesn’t end there. Gabriel is an option everyone should benefi t from. So we produced this car option in a way that it’s compatible with all car brands. Our campaign got a lot of the attention, but most important: the attention of the European Commission. They want to obligate this car option in Europe. So while you’re reading this caseboard, we’re in the process of producing Gabriel on a large scale.
Keep an eye out on Unforunately, an average of 20 children in Europe die from a heat stroke inside a car. The ideal car option of Kenny Devlieger - father of 2 sons - was one that would prevent these dramatic heat strokes. Our team of product developers perfected Kenny’s idea and actually produced it. An option that watches over your children like a guardian angel. Gabriel was born. The story of a regular guy’s idea that was produced into a life saving car option got media coverage all over the world. Kenny didn’t only prove himself a man with nice ideas, but also a great PR-man..
